Specialist areas of surgery
Professor Peter Choong is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. Professor Choong specialises in limb sparing surgery, where tumours are excised in their entirety while preserving the function of the limb through sophisticated, biologic and prosthetic reconstructions. He also specialises in chest wall, trunk and pelvic tumour surgery, and major joint reconstruction surgery including hip replacement surgery and knee replacement surgery.

- Chair, Bone and Soft Tissue Tumour service at Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre.
Education and training
Professor Choong undertook advanced orthopaedic training at the Musculoskeletal Tumour Centre, University Hospital in Lund, Sweden and also at the Department of Orthopaedics, at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, USA.
Professor Choong has a strong background in research and teaching through the University Of Melbourne Department Of Surgery at St. Vincent’s, and is recognised internationally for this role in the Orthopaedic profession.
